I'm Mary-Catherine. Mother of two sons and a daughter, wife of Econ Man, a frequent traveler full of wonderlust. By day a profoundly exhausted Domestic Engineer: a cook, a referee, a psychologist, a nanny, a house cleaner, a computer operator, teacher, personal chauffer, laundress, interior designer, administrative assistant, bookkeeper, handy gal, groundskeeper, nutritionist, RN, logistics analyst, and day care teacher--all in all CEO of my domain. In a former life, a painter, a sculptor, a poet, a designer, a reader, an academic. But a woman who spurns definition by just one. My blogs chart our family's journeys around the world, searching out those unbelievable moments, both mundane and profound, that make me so happy to be alive.

There's a Starbucks everywhere

Today we found our way to Geneva--a large, multiple-ethnic, mainly French-speaking city on Lake Geneva. We ate falafels and tabbouleh, had ice cream, watched crazy people and gypsies at the park on the water. The boys and I played with bubbles. They played with kids that spoke a language they couldn't understand (always humorous and sweet), and in general had a great time collecting branches and leaves off the ground. It was a great day of fellowship with Econ Man's parents. And on our way back we picked up a Starbucks (yes, they are everywhere) because our jet-lag was setting in, and headed back for our apartment. We had Rebecca and Matthias and lots of their friends arriving for a BBQ and we still had to stop at the grocery store to pick up food.
