I'm Mary-Catherine. Mother of two sons and a daughter, wife of Econ Man, a frequent traveler full of wonderlust. By day a profoundly exhausted Domestic Engineer: a cook, a referee, a psychologist, a nanny, a house cleaner, a computer operator, teacher, personal chauffer, laundress, interior designer, administrative assistant, bookkeeper, handy gal, groundskeeper, nutritionist, RN, logistics analyst, and day care teacher--all in all CEO of my domain. In a former life, a painter, a sculptor, a poet, a designer, a reader, an academic. But a woman who spurns definition by just one. My blogs chart our family's journeys around the world, searching out those unbelievable moments, both mundane and profound, that make me so happy to be alive.

Pretty Bird

Another late start, but no fear, we only needed half a day to enjoy the Jurong Bird Park. For a not-so-big island, Singapore has lots of great nature preserves, playgrounds, and animal parks. And this bird park is one of them. It's really fun, not so hard to get to by cab, and is full if birds from all over the world. We loved it. The boys got to feed pelicans and penguins, watch two bird shows, and see other great bird exhibits. My favorite was the parrot and cockatoo section. They are by far my favorite birds. And getting to view every species, even the highly endangered ones (think only 150 left worldwide), was a real treat. We left exhausted with Dash tripping every few steps and asking for sleep.

Declan "suiting up" to feed stinky fish to hungry pelicans--very exciting for a boy who loves birds.

Declan tempting the pelicans

Feeding frenzie.

Declan as an African Grey

Econ Man and his family used to have an African Grey named Pearl. Hilarious stories of Pearl have been told and retold and we never tire of laughing at them. She could speak with great mimicking abilities and the things she could and would mimic would have you in stitched laughing so hard. So we visited the African Greys here in homage to Pearl.

Dash pretending to be a parrot

The endangered macaws. Can't remember their name. They have feather Afros. Really funny.

Bird Buddies show. Very entertaining. Tess loved it. She kept shouting "bids!".

Declan feeding the penguins

Dash feeding the penguins

Very happy, fed penguins

The Falconer at the Birds of Prey show.

That's Tess, blowing you a kiss good night.
