That in the middle of the picture is an Orang Utan covered with a large coffee sack. It started to rain so he went for his portable rain cover. Very funny.
This was amazing. This is about as close as we will ever get to a Cheetah and I have to say I was mesmerized. I could have watched her all day. She kept right to the glass wall and our faces were nose to nose. Truly brilliant. There have only been two other experiences I've had like that. One was at the Albuquerque Zoo where the glass wall separates you from the mountain lion (I got nose to
nose with one there, too). The other was at the Boise Zoo where the glass wall separated us from a young lioness who pawed away at glass which our faces were behind. She was trying to play with us (thank goodness for the glass!).
Then we got to see the Cheetahs be fed.
So happy to be with daddy!
Food for the white Rhinos.
Declan feeding white Rhinos. Truly fun. They lip their food.
They are also very temperamental. If you accidentally drop the food they storm off in a tiff. Very amusing.
A baby Rhino hiding behind its mummy.
Tess greeting the Meerkats. They ran to their holes when they heard her shrieking.
My monkey boys.
We also saw the lions get fed.
This pic is for my mom, who really hates snakes. This one is a Green Python. So gorgeous.
Tess making friends with the Squirrel Monkeys. They ran to her. I think they like babies. They clung to the glass ledge near her and were so curious of her.
One of the funniest parts of the day was at an animal show when the young Orang Utan walked the rope over our heads and then was rather naughty and decided that instead of returning where she ought, that she'd just hang out and people watch instead.
She was really precious. She liked Tess, as well. She hung out around is till the handlers were able to coax her back up the top, where she happily jumped to her handler's arm--rather like a human baby.
Of course no day is complete without swimming and dinner with our friend Brandon again.
A terrific Dim Sum restaurant in the Marina Bay Sands Mall. You can watch the super hygienic workers make the dim sum behind viewing glass.
This is a really popular place (as you can see).
Asian restaurants often display their food specialties in a glass display case at the front of their restaurant.
Declan really enjoying noodles.
Dashel and Brandon. I love dim sum. It's hard to find in the US so I've been trying to eat as much as I can before we return home.
